What is derek riggs?

Derek Riggs is a British artist best known for creating the iconic mascot for the heavy metal band Iron Maiden, Eddie the Head. Riggs began working with Iron Maiden in 1977 and designed the cover art for many of their albums, including "The Number of the Beast," "Powerslave," and "Piece of Mind."

In addition to his work with Iron Maiden, Riggs has also created album covers for bands such as Stratovarius, Gamma Ray, and Skin. His artwork often features detailed and intricate illustrations that reflect the themes and music of the bands he works with.

Riggs was born in Portsmouth, England in 1958 and studied at the Portsmouth College of Art and Design. He has won several awards for his artwork and continues to work as a freelance artist, creating album covers, book illustrations, and other artwork for clients around the world.
